Ernst David (soldier)

Ernst David (8 July 1920 – 11 August 1943) was a highly decorated Obergefreiter in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Ernst David was killed on 11 August 1943 in Samoshje, Russia. He was posthumously awarded the Knight's Cross on 16 August 1943.
